The WHMS Band has worked really hard this year and has accomplished quite a lot.  In August, we signed up twenty-four new members who started in band in early September.  By December, most everyone was ready to march and play in the Grove Hill Christmas Parade.  Also in December, we had two students to attend the University of Alabama Honor Band.  In January, we had two students participate in Samford University Honor Band, and in February, three students went to Auburn University Honor Band.  In March, fourteen students were selected for the James G. Gunn Honor Band, sponsored by the Flying Bricks Community Band and the Arts Council of Thomasville.  In May, we took fifteen students to the Alabama State Solo & Ensemble Festival in Mobile and earned 16 superiors and 3 excellents.  The following week, the beginner and intermediate bands presented their annual spring concert.  This has been a great year for the band and Mrs. Clarke has really enjoyed working with such smart and talented students.  Best wishes to the graduating eighth graders as they continue their musical journey into the CCHS Band!
